Copenhagen: a destination for foodies

There are two types of cities for me: those I have on my bucket list and… the cities I never thought I would like until I visited them. Copenhagen is one of them: a city I wasn’t very keen on visiting since I believed it had nothing to offer. That was until a friend of mine who finally managed to make a reservation at Noma, the famous restaurant which has been awarded as the best restaurant in the world for 4 years in a row, invited me to join him in Copenhagen. I met him in the summer as we travelled together in the Trans-Siberian and he is a chef. And just like that, I booked my ticket to Denmark and in a few weeks, me and my favorite Boricuas were re-united in Copenhagen. We only had but a few days to explore the cold capital of Denmark. We decided…

This year, I decided to visit the Scandinavian north, on a last-minute trip I combined with an exciting rail trip to the Arctic. After doing some online research, I decided I would fly to Sweden, explore Stockholm and then, I would take the night train from Stockholm to Kiruna – the northern part of Sweden near the Arctic Circle. From there, I would take a flight back to Stockholm.

Merzouga is a small town near the dunes, named after the Merzouga desert, part of the great Sahara desert inhabited by local Berber families working in tourism – they organize desert tours and camps, camel treks and wonderful nights under the starry desert sky as we later found out!

It was back in March 2016 when me and my best friends headed to Morocco by plane and even though I wouldn’t think of visiting the North-African country again, I have to admit that it was one of the funniest and most exciting trips of that year. I had so many great experiences and took so many photos, I had to share with you!

The gorge of Samaria was on my bucket list for years as it was a must-visit destination for me. Since I had never been to Crete until 2015 and the fact that I thought that one should be in great shape to walk through the gorge, I only came to visit it six months before my 30th birthday. It was only then when I decided to put on my running shoes and stand at Xyloskalo where the path starts, ready to do it.
